How To Match Your Hairstyle And Your Earrings

When you’ve gone to considerable lengths to find the perfect outfit and hairstyle for that special occasion, the last thing you want is to ruin the whole effect by wearing the wrong earrings and yet it can so easily be done. Even on those casual occasions, the wrong earrings can prove to be a nightmare. There are, however, a few simple guidelines that can help you avoid making disastrous mistakes.

Earrings

Short hair

Short hairstyles leave the earlobes and neckline exposed meaning that you can wear virtually any style of earrings and be sure that they will look gorgeous – provided that they suit your face shape. Studs look stunning while drop earrings and chandelier styles lend a flourish to your appearance.

Braided hair

Braids and plaits expose the earlobe and, as with short hair, are the perfect styles for stud earrings. Hoop earrings are also a great complement for this casual look and will add some dimension to the side of your face, so be aware that if you have a round face you should avoid them.

Ponytail

The ponytail is a simple style that many women favor for wearing to work. Although the hair is drawn back and will suit drop or chunky earrings, the work environment dictates a less flamboyant look. The always versatile stud earrings are therefore the best choice. Small hoops are also a good option and, like studs, will go perfectly with both ordinary working clothes and formal business suits.

Tied up hair

Hair tied up in a bun at the back or a twist, offers the same opportunities as short hair. Studs as always look superb while chandeliers and dangling pieces are excellent alternatives.

Long Hair

Cascading over the ears, long hair will conceal studs and tiny hoops, but they will still have an allure all their own. For your earrings to be more easily seen, they will have to be larger and longer to show through the hair. Long earring and extended geometric shapes are ideal. Being partially covered, they will bring a touch of mystery to your look.

Hair color

Hairstyle is, of course, only one of the factors you need to consider when choosing your earrings. Hair color is important too. While yellow and white metals with diamond mounts suit all hair colors, blondes should go for strongly-coloured gems while pastel colors are more appropriate for brunettes. Redheads, on the other hand, should wear cool shades to temper the fiery color of their hair.

By following these simple guidelines, you will be able to avoid a clash between your earrings and hairstyle. But remember, you need to take other factors into account such as your outfit and the occasion. With careful selection, however, you can rest assured that you will look stunning.
